Welcome Aimee!

DSC09679We warmly welcome Aimee Ewart to our team. Aimee has joined the wonderful team at The Cubby House as the new Team Leader for Children’s Programs. We are delighted to have her on board! Here is a bit more about Aimee:

Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the new Team Leader here at the Cubby House.

A little bit about me, my family and I moved 4 months ago from Christchurch New Zealand. I have two daughters Eden 6 and Isabelle 16.

I have had the pleasure of working in early childhood for the last 7 years and over this time did my Bachelor in Teaching (ECE).  I have worked with all age groups ranging from birth to 6 years and have a strong belief that the early years are the foundation to a child’s learning journey as this is where they learn empathy, respect, and to contribute their thoughts and ideas as well as valuing the thoughts of others. It is also where children discover the fun and love of learning whilst playing.

Please if you have any questions for me or just want a chat come and see me!

A message from Lynette

My name is Lynette Rieck and I am pleased and excited to have been appointed the new Team Leader here at The Cubby House.

I have extensive experience  in the Early Childhood Education sector, (Long Day Care, Occasional Care, Family Day Care, Outside School Hours Care, Vacation Care, and Adult Education ), and hope to put my experience to good use in this vital and welcoming centre.

I am also looking forward to getting to know all the children and their families, and to building strong, supportive relationships with you all.

The team has made what we believe to be positive changes to the centre over the last few weeks, creating new and vibrant displays, and incorporating more natural and recycled objects into the activities we are providing for the children.

Please come and have a look around, and ask us any questions you may have about what we are doing.

This is your centre, in your community, so please feel free to come and have a look around

From all of us at RCLC, we hope your holidays are full of laughs, love and adventures! We are looking forward to starting 2019 with a bang! ... See MoreSee Less

Richmond Community Learning Centre - RCLC

Last weekend saw our last Repair session for 2018. And as always, our friendly repair group managed to fix and mend a few different items (bikes, cloths, an outdoor umbrella!).

We want to thank the wonderful group of volunteers who run, support, promote and fix things at the Richmond Repair Corner. Thank you for facilitating a wonderful program that minimises waste and creates opportunities for people in our community to meet and learn new skills.

We're looking forward to more repair session in 2019!Richmond Repair Corner reached new heights in 2018. Over 243 kg of household items that would have otherwise ended up in landfill! That's 107 separate items!

Here's some pics from our final session for 2018 yesterday. Our new bike fixer, James, had three bikes to work on. Karin restored shoes and, get this, a leather jacket! Tim helped untangle the maze of string inside an outdoor umbrella, whose owners were able to complete the mend at home. Kristian had his head down with an assortment of electronic items, and Helen taught a cardigan owner how to darn!

Massive thanks to all our volunteers over 2018. We look forward to seeing you on the last Sunday of February, 2019.
